From a BA Graduate to a Network Professional

Since my childhood, I used to dream of becoming an engineer. But after completion of SSC and HSC in Science, I could not get into any polytechnic institute to fulfil my childhood dream. In 2001, I got admitted in Bachelor of Arts (pass course) programme and completed the course in the shortest possible time to become a bread earner of my family. My financial condition didn’t improve much because my father had been unemployed for the past 10 years and I was the only earning member of my family. In 2006, I was an employee of a garments manufacturing company and living in a shared accommodation. At that time, I came to know about IDB-BISEW IT Scholarship Program from one of my roommates. I applied for the scholarship and was finally selected. From the very first day, I was devoted to my course and successfully completed the Diploma in Networking Technologies. This training course gave me many happy memories. I can still remember the first time I saw the inside of a computer, my first email account and my first professional certification (MCSA) even today. Monthly pocket expenses of Taka 2,000 under the scholarship program helped me a lot during my course period.

Within three months of completing the course, I got my first job in a Garments factory as IT support engineer. I confidently provided services to that factory and gathered experience. After three years, in 2010 my dream finally came true. I got a job as an Assistant Administrator in Southtech Limited, a well-known software company in Bangladesh. In my eight years of service at Southtech, I have been awarded and promoted several times and currently working as a Vice President, IT infrastructure. Currently. I am managing more than 300 work stations, 40 servers and our global office at UK, USA and Bhutan. My current salary is well above any general computer engineer and my take home salary is about six digits.

All credits for my professional success goes to IDB-BISEW. All of my thanks and appreciation won’t be enough to properly convey my indebtedness to the scholarship programme. If I have an opportunity to contribute to IDB-BISEW I will never hesitate for a second. I feel proud to introduce myself as a successful IT graduate of IDB-BISEW IT Scholarship Programme.
